Question for Oral Answers

Hon. P. Harrison, - To ask the Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development

a  (i) Will he state the number of institutions that come under the purview of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development; 17 Institutions.
(ii) Will he state the number of government vehicles that come under each such institution 479 Vehicles. (Please see the column I of Annexe 01);
(iii) Will he state the grades of the officers of those institutions to whom government vehicles have been assigned; and Vehicles have been assigned to the senior officers who are entitled to official vehicles according to the Public Administration Circular 22/99. Officers at the director level or higher level in the institutions include in this category.
(iv) Will he state the number of vehicles falling under the supervision of those officers? 95 vehicles (Please see the column II of Annexe 01) Not more than one vehicle has been assigned to each such officer.
b  (i) Will he inform this House of the number of vehicles in the institutions coming under the aforesaid Ministry that have been obtained on rent basis; 01 Vehicle.
 (ii) Will he state the method of payment of rent adopted in relation to those vehicles; National Youth Corp.
 (iii) Will he state the total amount of money paid annually as rent on those vehicles; and Annually Rs. 576,000/- is paid at a rate of Rs. 48,000/- per month.
 (iv) Will he state the officers who use those vehicles obtained on rent basis? Those vehicles have been assigned to the duties of the National Youth Corp headquarters and the Western Provincial Office.
c  (i) Will he state whether a methodology to distinguish government vehicles under this Ministry, vehicles obtained on rent basis, and personal vehicles of the officers is in place; and Yes. As the official state insignia and the name of the Ministry are being displayed on vehicles which are being kept in reserve under the Ministry, except the vehicles assigned to the senior officers, it remains the ability to identify them separately. Any such thing is not being displayed on personal vehicles belong to the officers.
 (ii) Will he state if so, whether a clarification in that regard is made? The official state insignia and the name of the Ministry are being displayed on vehicles which are being kept in reserve under the Ministry, except the vehicles assigned to the senior officers, and any such thing is not being displayed on personal vehicles belong to the officers. No vehicle is hired on rent basis to this Ministry.
 (iii) Will he state whether the state insignia and the name of the relevant institution are engraved in the government vehicles that come under the Ministry and the institutions coming under it; and Yes
 (iv) Will he state if not, the reasons for that? Not relevant.
d  (i) Will he state if not, Why? Does not arise.
